UPDATE: Brenda is now 20 years old and in her first year of college. She is studying Fashion Design, and one day hopes to teach it to others. We asked her why that course of study and she said her life has been greatly impacted by Matilda Jane Clothing and all they good they have done for her and the children at Seeds. Brenda is loving being at college and learning to live on her own. She is currently sharing a small place with another one of our college kids from Seeds. Your sponsor dollars are used to support her living expenses, housing, food, data for web and cell phone as well as a little "pocket change" for other needs. Brenda's tuition is paid through the Seeds' farming project and other donations made for our college kids. We are currently looking for a new sponsor for Brenda. She's an amazing young lady and you'll enjoy getting to know her. Would you consider sponsoring Brenda as she finishes her education and gets started on her path in life?
ORIGINAL STORY: Brenda is 13 years old and is in the sixth grade and lives next to the slums in Kitale. She would like to be a doctor when she gets older. Brenda is a smiley, joyful girl who is quiet in front us, but is likely a normal, giggly, talkative teenage girl. She speaks English very well but is hesitant to speak in front of us because we are American. She has two sisters, one of whom has a sponsor allowing her to go to school, the other was chosen by a group of nuns to live and study at the convent. Brenda now is the only child left at home. Both of her parents are alive and are trying to work, but her dad lost his job as a driver in town and her mother's vegetable business ended. Brenda is hoping that a sponsor will step in and give her the support she needs so that she can continue her education.
