UPATED: Dorcus is now 16 and attending High School. She loves living with all her "siblings" at Seeds. She laughs easy and is super easy to talk with - we've enjoyed our visits with her. One day she hopes to be a teacher and help other kids like she has been helped. Dorcus is in need of a new sponsor, as through COVID things changed for her long time sponsoring family and they needed to let go of her sponsorship. Dorcus is going to be a great fit for some amazing sponsor - would you like to be that person? You'll enjoy getting to know her.
ORIGINAL STORY: Dorcus dreams of being a doctor someday. She is seven years old and lives in the Kipsongo slums with her mom. WIth her hair in tight cornrows with blonde braids, she enters the interview with a purple top covered in flower and a pair of beat-up off-brand Croc shoes. We learned that her dad died this past January, which now makes finding food very difficult for herself and her mother. Her four siblings are no longer living in the slum with her and her mom. Some of her siblings are in other schools or homes. She told us during her interview that the people around her fight all the time. This constant fighting has made her very fearful. Her mom picks in the trash in order to find food to eat, which usually means Dorcus eats only when she is at school. She desperately wants to live at the orphanage so she can be with her best friend Hilda who is already sponsored.
