UPDATE: Joyleen is ow 17 and in Form 3; which is the 10 grade for our kids. She's grown up to be a passionate and thoughtful young lady. ORIGINAL STORY: Joyleen is nine years old and is in the second grade. She would one day like to be a teacher. Her mother passed away, but her father is still living. However, Joleen lives with her aunt because her father simply cannot provide for her and her siblings. When asked what her biggest struggle is, she tells us she has pain in her chest and in her tooth. The poor girl has probably never visited a doctor before in her life because her aunt does not have money for her to receive medical attention. Life is hard at her aunt's. Joleen has to fetch water and do the laundry, despite her health issues. She has run away at times but always returns eventually. Joleen hopes that she will be able to live in the orphanage and have her medical needs met.
