UPDATE: Lavenda is now 15 years old and has just started high school. We recently asked her how she has been during the last couple years with the pandemic and not being able to be in school - she said it was hard not to be going to school but she was thankful because they got to do "homeschool" at the orphanage, which helped a lot. Lavenda wants to be a teacher after she graduates and be just like Miss Mary, who has been her CRE teacher for the last three years. In her free time she loves to be with her friends and even watch a movie when they have movie night. We are looking for a new sponsor for Lavenda to connect with her by letters and encourage her as she continues through high school. ORIGINAL STORY: Little Lavenda, she's only 6 years old and her life has been filled with hardship since the very beginning. Born to parents that both suffer from HIV/Aids she lives deep in the slum of Kipsongo. We don't know very much about her only that she is extremely malnourished and has no place to sleep at night except the streets in the slum. She needs medical attention and a sponsor that can help get her off the streets and into a safe place where she can have her basic needs met.
