Neema is eight years old and is the younger sister of Consolata. She dreams of one day being able to go to Mt. Elgon and see live elephants. She lives with her two brothers, sister, and mother in the slums of Kitale and is surrounded by people constantly fighting and drinking. As her sister talks about their father, Neema begins to cry and faces the back wall hugging the back of her chair.
Neema's hope to one day be able to live in the orphanage with the other children and her sister came true last September. She was rescued from the slum shortly after MAF started as a sponsor was found for her and Consolata very quickly. Neema has flourished at the new children's home, she loves her new friends, skipping rope and living in a safe place. Her studies have improved and she is so grateful to be out of the slum. Her smile is infectious and she laughs easily now.
Her original sponsor has had a major life change and needed to let go of their sponsorship, so we are looking for a new sponsor for Neema.
