Meet Avril, she's 7 years old and full of personality. We met her on our last trip to Kitale. Avril and her sister Stacey have recently been rescued from the Kipsongo slum. Their father passed away a few years ago and they have been living with their grandmother. We've heard their mother is dealing with a mental illness and no one seems to know where she is or how she is doing. Avril's grandmother was recently diagnosed with cancer and has become seriously ill. The local children's department brought the girls situation to our partner's attention. Hellen immediately took the girls into the care of Seed's Children's home and is now in need of a sponsor for each of them. We were surprised how well Avril spoke English, since she's only 7. It was wonderful to get to know her and watch her as she has adjusted to life at Seed's well.
