UPDATE: WOW - Faith is now 20 years old and she's in her first year of college. She's pursuing a diploma in food processing technology. This young lady has come a long way over the years she has been at Seed's. She was originally sponsored by Matilda Jane Clothings corporate team - whom she loved dearly and enjoy sending and receiving letters with. Since the recent closing of MJ we are looking for a new sponsor for Faith as she continues her journey through college and beings a life on her own. ORIGINAL STORY: She is an 11 year old fourth grader who wants to become a teacher. When asked "why a teacher?", Faith responds "so I can teach others." It drew a friendly laugh from all of us, including Faith herself. We learned in our session that both of Faith's parents have passed away and she is living with her uncle. She actually traveled over two hours to come see us, as her Uncle does not live in Kitale. Faith struggles daily with little food and clothing and a shelter that would hardly be considered a home. She prays that she can escape from the slums and live in the orphanage with the other children and be happy.
