UPDATE: David is now now 16 years old and in the 6th grade. It's been amazing to see how David has changed over the last six years. He has continued to heal from the trauma he experienced through the loss of his father. Our partners think he may have seen some unthinkable things that horrible day. We've loved seeing him be goofy and dance in the lights of the van as we've left from a visit. He's working his way through school and trying hard. Being at Seed's and in the Mighty Acorn program has given him a path leading to healing and hope for a good future. We've looking for a new sponsor for this special guy. ORIGINAL STORY: David is a shy 10 year old. When we visited him at his home in a rural village outside of Kitale, he squirmed and shrunk away from the camera as we took pictures. Several attempts were needed to convince him that these crazy pale skinned people and that thing they were pointing at him wouldn't hurt him. It was probably the first time David had seen a white person and he wasn't too sure he liked us.
We were called into see his family because they were in serious trouble. David's father had been murdered last November and since then his mom had been so distraught she was unable to care for him and his siblings. Food has been scares and his clothes look like they haven't been washed in 6 months, he had no shoes and his little feet were covered with red mud.
We didn't get our usual interview with him it just didn't seem like it was all that important to know his favorite color or what he wanted to be when he grew up. It would just be nice to be sure he does grow up. So we are looking for a sponsor for this little guy, can you help us?
